Undeserved Misfortune
Undeserved misfortune is one of the five essential elements of a great film. It can be found in all movies as well as in real personal experiences. In Inglorious Bastards, we can observe the undeserved misfortune in the scene where Soshana's entire family is brutally murdered simply for being Jewish. This, in turn, makes the audience care for Soshana and sympathize with her plan to avenge her family by assassinating Hitler. Undeserved misfortune can also be observed in real life experiences. I once had a friend named Edgar in seventh grade; we weren't exactly best friends, but we used to talk a lot, especially about video games. Then, I remember that he suddenly stopped talking to me. I didn't know why, I just assumed that we didn't have things to talk about, so I left things as they were. I would occasionally pass by him from time to time, but he would always give me this angry look. I hadn't done any wrong to him, so I was confused as to why he was so mad at me. Then one day, he finally approached me and told me that he had heard from some other people that I was saying things behind his back. I was surprised to hear that and immediately denied it, but he didn't believe me. Things took a turn for the worse, but we eventually cleared things up and we never really talked much after that. And so a simple rumor caused me to lose a friend, even though I didn't have many since it was my first year at that school. I suppose that this event could be turned into an idea for a film.
